IYCP Achieves Great Results

Meleah Oates was one of Impact Communities very first Indigenous Youth Career Pathways  (IYCP) participants in 2013. Meleah was able to be placed in a School Based Traineeship (SBT) with Workskills Inc. undertaking a business traineeship. Impact Communities was able to support/mentor Meleah to complete year 12 and SBT to sustain and gain full-time employment post year 12. Meleah said the following of her IYCP experience:

“I found the support from IYCP while beginning my first proper job and completing my Certificate II in Business to be most helpful. Even after completing my traineeship with Workskills and moving into a full time position with a different company, I still received lots of support from IYCP. The IYCP program really helped shape me to become the person I am today, and I’m thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of it.”

Meleah left Workskills after the completion of her IYCP, and then joined a large financial planning organisation. Recently Meleah re-joined the Workskills team in a full-time capacity and is progressing very well in her job.
